| Description of placement
This is an interesting opportunity to work in a peripheral location
yet within easy commuting distance of Manchester .The placement
offers an opportunity to understand intensive case management within
the Assertive Outreach Team covering the Fylde Coast (Blackpool
and more rural areas around Lytham and Lytham St.Annes and the fishing
community of Fleetwood) .We continue to provide cover for our patients
throughout inpatient and community placements operating from a central
base in a CM.H.T in Blackpool.
ROLE OF THE TRAINEE:
1. Outpatient work and supervision of in-patients: The Trainee
will develop their skills in assertive Outreach .They will undertake
community assessments with other members of the A.O.T.team, attend
regular allocation and team review meetings, undertake urgent assessments
and provide inpatient medical care for patients as appropriate.
2. On-call commitment: Currently 1 in 6
3. Research: Trainees will be encouraged to continue with existing
research and supported with any new research. Audits are undertaken
by all doctors during their placement
4. Management Training: Opportunities are available to participate
in weekly consultant meetings. These offer management training as
well as offering insight into practical problems of a consultants
working life
