of placement
The main areas of work in this post are in the community,
linking with both the Community Mental Health Team and Early Intervention
Service based in Victoria House in Morecambe, but you will also
do some work at Ridge Lea Hospital, the inpatient base in Lancaster
ROLE OF THE TRAINEE:
1. Outpatient work and supervision of in-patients: You will gain
extensive experience and training in one of the best resourced EIS
teams in the country. You will also be able to work within the CMHT
and across the interface with CRHT, developing your skills in managing
more complex cases in conjunction with Care Coordinators, in keeping
with New Ways of Working for Psychiatrists. The inpatient work will
include CPA reviews and also assessments for early discharge to
Home Treatment.
2. Management Training: Trainees can attend regular multidisciplinary
management meetings locally in a shadowing role and also the mental
health reference group convened by the local practice based commissioning
team to gain experience of both provider side issues as well as
commissioning.
3. On-call commitment: 1:8, on call pay banding 2B.
4. Research: Trainees will be given time to further existing research
projects or develop new ones with the support of the Academic Centre
based at the Lantern Centre, Preston, headed by Professor Max Marshall.
Audit projects will be supported by staff within the Clinical Governance
Unit of Lancashire Care Trust.
5. Teaching: Medical students come from Liverpool University and
you will have the opportunity when/if trained to do PBL sessions
as well as other teaching, both formal and informal. There is ample
opportunity to support specialty registrars preparing for MRCPsych
examination.
6. Special interests : Community Drug Team/Dual Diagnosis Clinics.
