self help using CBT model). The post-holder will be able to gain
experience of these if requested. In addition, we offer experience
in inpatient management of severely malnourished patients and care
of patients with chronic, severe eating disorders currently unable
to make progress in the community. As such, the post-holder will
receive training in all aspects of eating disorders necessary to
become a specialist within this area or work part/full time in an
Eating Disorder Service.
In addition, there are numerous opportunities for teaching, training
and management experience within the service. Overall the Eating

innovation.

in the field of eating disorders and the role of the service or

club, audit and case presentation.
Weekly supervision is provided on a regular basis at one of the
6 sites.
5. AUDIT / RESEARCH OPPORTUNITIES
We have a large database of all patients managed by the service
for the past seven years and as such there are numerous opportunities
for quantitative research within this novel data set. The post-holder
will be encouraged to develop a research project within the highly
specialised Eating Disorder Service. The educational supervisor
(Dr.Jessica Morgan) will also help the trainee to develop an audit
project within the service.

The Eating Disorder Service is an area of major development within

are setting up of new outpatient services outside the boundaries

8. DESCRIPTION OF ANY SPECIAL INTEREST SESSIONS OFFERED
At the Eating Disorders Service, we are happy to offer special interest
sessions but would suggest that anyone taking up these would do
so for a minimum of 9 months in order to gain adequate experience.
The sessions are predominantly clinical and would obviously involve
the potential for close supervision and psychotherapeutic work.
