1. DETAILS OF PLACEMENT (LOCATION, POPULATION, INPATIENT
OR OUTPATIENT, BEDS)
Community psychiatry in the form of outpatient clinics, MDT meetings
and home visits.
Also some experience on inpatient psychiatric ward in liaison capacity.
Clinics are mainly held at Local GP practices.

2. DETAILS OF ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES AND EXPERIENCE
TRAINEE WILL GAIN
Outpatient Work: The trainee will run two outpatient clinics weekly.(with
the option of a 3rd one) The trainee will gain extensive experience
of a very busy community patch, with high levels of SMI and dual
diagnosis patients.
Allocation Meeting: Attending the weekly allocation meeting with
the Community Mental Health Team will help to develop skills in
multi-professional working.
Community Work: The trainee will take part in organising domiciliary
visits to assess and manage patients in their own homes environments.
Inpatient Work: There are no in patient responsibilities, although
the senior and junior trainee are encouraged to “in patient
in-reach work” on a weekly basis.
Medico legal work: The trainee will be encouraged to prepare medico-legal
reports and reports for MHRT and Manager’s Hearings under
direct supervision of Dr Ring. There will be also an expectation
that the trainee will develop skills in presenting cases during
these proceedings.
Any other clinical commitment: N/A
3. JUNIOR DOCTOR SUPPORT AND SUPERVISION
There is an ST1-3 doctor in the team. There is a core trainee attached
to the team and providing supervision and support will be part of
the post holder responsibilities.
4. ON CALL COMMITMENT AND PAY BANDING
Daytime on-call: There are no day time on call commitments. Urgent
assessments are handled by the respective community teams and this
may require input from the senior trainee.
Out of hours on-call: Banding: Covering urgent assessments in East
Cheshire( Crewe, Macclesfield, Knutsford, Congleton, Poynton, Handforth,
Wilmslow and other surrounding towns/villages).There are three senior
trainees working on the rota and this is 1:8 with a 40% banding.
5. TEACHING / SUPERVISION / ACADEMIC EXPERIENCE
There are ample opportunities to facilitate teaching sessions for
nursing students and core trainees (like video teaching, giving
tutorials, small group teaching and case-based discussions). Opportunities
also abound to organise teaching sessions for the CMHT
6. AUDIT / RESEARCH OPPORTUNITIES
The educational supervisor will support research in the department
and audit is encouraged as part of the attachment.
The trainee will be encouraged to develop or participate in research
activity as part of postgraduate degree or as part of training programme
research experience.
7. MANAGEMENT EXPERIENCE
Depending on current vacancies, there may be an opportunity to become
involved in the local LNC. Dr Ring is keen for trainees to take
this opportunity if available. Trainees are encouraged to attend
consultant management meeting and medical staffing meetings. Trainees
receive encouragement to take ownership of relevant service/ management
issues and develop them accordingly. There will likely be ongoing
service redevelopment in the trust for which trainees may be able
to identify a role.

9. IMPORTANT ADDITIONAL DETAILS (FACILITIES etc)
Office- This is bases at the Jocellyn Solly Resource Centre.
Car park- There are ample car parking opportunities at Jocelyn Solly
Resource Centre and the nearby Cricket ground.
Secretary support- Secretarial support is available. The trust is
now using digitalised dictation devices which have proven to be
effective.
Other sites and travel required? As this is a CMHT post, trainees
will be required to do a bit of travelling (usually within a 10
mile radius)
