StR/ SpR POST DETAILS

DESCRIPTION OF PLACEMENT
The post is split between CRHT and CMHT/out-patient
work, both with the Chorlton and Whalley Range sector.
The CRHT work involves care of up to 15 acutely ill
patients being looked after at home as an alternative to admission.
The medical staff provide urgent and routine reviews and chair the
weekly team meeting where most care planning takes place.
The CMHT work involves one clinic per week combining new and follow
up patients from the sector, plus home visits by arrangement with
other CMHT staff. There is a weekly referral and allocation meeting
and opportunities for GP liaison.
DUTIES OF SPR AND EXPERIENCE GAINED
CRHT:
Assessment and medical management of wide range of acute presentations.
Experience of treatment modalities and medication needs of acutely
ill patients being managed at home.
Team working both in CRHT and CMHT within same sector.
Observing and chairing team meetings.
Working with advanced practitioner.
CMHT/ out-patient:
Assessing and managing complex primary care referrals.
Liaising with CMHT.
Undertaking joint visits.
MHA work:
Opportunities for MHA assessments for CRHT and CMHT patients and
on call work.
ON CALL COMMITMENT
Day time on call approximately 1 in 8
Night time city wide cover on shift system approx 1 in 18, banded
1B
TEACHING / ACADEMIC EXPERIENCE
Regular 4th year medical student teaching and co-ordination.
Opportunities for OSCE, PBL, foundation training and other small
group teaching on site.
RESEARCH OPPORTUNITIES
Full range of research opportunities available.
Dr Harrison has particular interest in work of CRHTs, new ways of
working and other service evaluation.
MANAGEMENT TRAINING
Dr Harrison is an experienced medical manager and
currently clinical director at Central site. There are opportunities
for shadowing, project work or other management special interest
sessions.
ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE AVAILABLE
As above extensive knowledge and research experience
relating to CRHT work. Medical management opportunities and exposure
to work of advanced practitioner.
Close links with Trust Early Intervention Service and special interest
sessions with this team could be organised.
