Description of placement
District general hospital with 5 wte adult psychiatrists, 2wte old age, and 0.5wte Learning disability. Three spr trainee places, 6 sho’s and 3 staff grades. Each trainee is expected to take an active role in our weekly educational morning, and to participate in audit and case conference sessions. The trainee will have weekly new patient and review clinics, as well as in-patient responsibilities, and will work in close collaboration with our community mental health teams. There is an acute day hospital, assertive outreach team and mentally disordered offenders team. As part of a new mental health trust encompassing six geographical sites, there are diverse special interest session opportunities. On call commitments are on a 1:6 basis with consultant cover at all times.
