7. Participation in the On-Call rota (approximately 1 in 8): Consultant cover will always be provided.

8. Community round: The trainee will have opportunity to conduct joint home visits with a care coordinator to known patients.

This post is a core placement but best as a 2nd or 3rd year of General Adult ST 4-6 due to specialised nature of post seeing a restricted range of presentations.

RESEARCH OPPORTUNITIES:

If trainee has any research interests, he or she can be allocated time. If interested in researching in early psychosis, working with this client group is an ideal opportunity.

MANAGEMENT TRAINING:

Each trainee would be expected to attend the consultants’ weekly management meetings (Wednesday pm) and to take on an area of service-related management to work on in more depth, with the respective medical or non-medical manager, in the course of their year in Tameside. Trainees are also expected to participate actively in organising their on-call and other duties.

Dr Huda is chair of the MSC and is active in Service Development e.g. for EIT and Adult ADHD, so there are opportunities in these fields.

ADDITIONAL TRAINING AVAILABLE:

Dr Huda also works with Transitional clients (16-19year olds); there are therefore opportunities in this area.

Trainees can arrange special interest sessions with Lesley Peters; the Substance Misuse consultant locally. There is also a local secure rehabilitation service which makes it possible to arrange special interest sessions with, both the inpatient management and assessment of referrals side.

EIT service gives opportunities to acquire lots of additional experiences such as more opportunity to use CBT with their clients.
