StR/ SpR POST DETAILS 2009-2010

DESCRIPTION OF PLACEMENT:

SpR/ ST4-6 in Adult Psychiatry, based in the Trafford West Community Mental Health team, with responsibility for both inpatient and outpatient work.

ROLE OF THE TRAINEE:

• Assessment of new referrals
• Reviewing follow-up patients in the outpatient clinic
• Consultation-liaison work with CMHT
• Occasional community visits
• Management of inpatients at Moorside, including leading the Ward Round in the Consultants’ absence
• Section 136 Assessments in A&E, MHA assessments and other on-call work as required
• Supervision of FY1 and CT trainees

This post is a core placement

ON CALL COMMITMENTS: 1:9

TEACHING EXPERIENCE:

• Medical Students from University of Manchester on rotation
• FY1 doctor attached to the team
• CT doctor (CT1-3) attached to the team

MANAGEMENT TRAINING:

Dr Shazad Amin is the Foundation Programme Director for the acute Trust hence opportunities exist for learning about the management of medical education

Also there will be the opportunity to chair CMHT meetings and trainees are encouraged to attend senior management meetings as appropriate

ADDITIONAL TRAINING AVAILABLE:

• Teaching on the Foundation Programme
• Special Interest in Family Court work & teaching to Social Services
