StR/ SpR POST DETAILS 2009-2010

DESCRIPTION OF PLACEMENT:

CRHT with 5 Inpatient beds allocated to CRHT Patients.

EXPERIENCE GAINED AND ROLE OF THE TRAINEE:

This post provides an excellent opportunity for SpR / ST Trainees to work with the South Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment Team and also to have in-patient experience as 5 Inpatient beds are allocated to Crisis Team for patients who would need urgent in-patient assessment and treatment.

This post is a core placement with Community, Outpatient and Inpatient Experience

ON CALL COMMITMENTS:

There are 7 SpR / ST4-6 Trainees in Wythenshawe who provide a full Shift on call Rota. The trainee will also take part in the city wide on call rota with the other 18 SpRs.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE:

• Medical Students from University of Manchester on rotation
• CT doctor (CT1-3) or foundation doctor is attached to the team

RESEARCH EXPERIENCE:

The Psychiatric Department of Wythenshawe Hospital is well known for its Research activities. There are a wide range of Research opportunities in the department with experienced trainers who are keen to guide, support and supervise trainees’ research activities.

MANAGEMENT TRAINING:

Trainees can receive management experience by attending our weekly in-patient Senior Management Meeting and CRHT Allocation Meetings. Trainees can also shadow the trainer in various management meetings.

ADDITIONAL TRAINING AVAILABLE:

The Trainer has Special Interest in Rehabilitation and has previously worked as a Rehabilitation Consultant. Therefore, this post can also be of interest to trainees who are interested to apply the Recovery Model of care in acute CRHT setting.

There is a psychologist and social worker in the team which allow our CRHT / MDT meetings to address and provide management plans and care packages by using a Bio Psycho Social Model.
