1. DETAILS OF PLACEMENT (LOCATION, POPULATION, INPATIENT OR OUTPATIENT, BEDS)
The post is community focussed with half the time spent in CMHT and the rest in CRHT setting. It provides opportunities for working in partnership with multiple teams. There are AOT, EIS and CRHT teams in place with which the post holder must interface.
We cover two large poly clinics (2 practices) and additional smaller two doctor practices. Total morbidity adjusted adult population is around 45,000. There are also inpatient responsibilities which allow active links with inpatients under our team.

2. DETAILS OF ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES AND EXPERIENCE TRAINEE WILL GAIN

Outpatient Work: The trainee will run two outpatient clinics weekly for CMHT and at least one outpatient clinic a week for the Crisis team. The trainee will gain extensive experience of a very busy community patch, with high levels of SMI and dual diagnosis patients.
Allocation Meeting: Attending the weekly allocation meeting with the Community Mental Health Team and twice weekly meetings with Crisis team which will help to develop skills in multi-professional working.

Community Work: The trainee will take part in organising domiciliary visits to assess and manage patients in their own homes environments.

Medico legal work: The trainee will be encouraged to prepare medico-legal reports and reports for MHRT and Manager’s Hearings under direct supervision of Dr Massie. There will be also an expectation that the trainee will develop skills in presenting cases during these proceedings.

Any other clinical commitment: liaison/crises team sessions etc

3. JUNIOR DOCTOR SUPPORT AND SUPERVISION
There is an ST1-3 doctor with the Crisis team. There is a core trainee attached to the Crisis team and providing supervision and support will be part of the post holder responsibilities.

4. ON CALL COMMITMENT AND PAY BANDING
Daytime on-call: Covering urgent assessments in South Manchester area (mainly Section 135/136 and MHA assessments) and providing support for on-call junior doctor at Laureate House. Currently 1:8- approximately one session per week.
Out of hours on-call: City-wide rota (covering MRI, Wythenshawe Hospital and NMGH). 1:22 etc
Banding: 1b on-call banding

5. TEACHING / SUPERVISION / ACADEMIC EXPERIENCE
There are regular attachments from medical students along with students on SSC and Project Option modules. Provision of teaching is encouraged and PBL and OSCE training is provided to allow trainees to facilitate students PBL and OSCE groups.
There are ample opportunities to facilitate teaching sessions for medical students and core trainees (like video teaching, giving tutorials, small group teaching and case-based discussions).

6. AUDIT / RESEARCH OPPORTUNITIES
The educational supervisor will support research in the department and audit is an expected part of the attachment.
The trainee will be encouraged to develop or participate in research activity as part of postgraduate degree or as part of training programme research experience.

7. MANAGEMENT EXPERIENCE
There are a number of opportunities to take part in the managerial processes behind developing the services. The team focus is on streamlining and improving the efficiency of the services in all its aspects, to manage an area of high morbidity with a limited resource.
The trainee will be encouraged and supported to develop his/her own management project.
